Dear Parents,
Family Camp 2007
As you probably know we have arranged a family camp at Ratlingate for the weekend of September 14th to 16th. This camp is open to all members of 13th Carlisle and their families. Cubs and Scouts can either camp with their families, with their friends in a tent of their own or in one of the groups own tents.
Beavers are also welcome but they must camp with their parents as they are still below eight years old and are subject to different regulations. (If Beavers do not want to camp then they can come out between 11.00am and 4.00pm on Saturday. Please contact us though so we know who is coming.)
It is not necessary for parents to attend, however it is a good opportunity to have a weekend away, see what your children get up to and socialise with other members of the group. Go on – live dangerously!
The camp will open on the Friday Evening at 6.00pm with people able to come and erect their tents from this time. It will end at midday on the Sunday after the building has been cleaned and equipment returned to the Scout Hut.
The camp will cost £15 per child.
Families of four or more can camp for £50
The basic timetable is
Friday Wide Games (games that use the whole of the field and the woods.)
Saturday Rocket building. (How far can you propel a bottle rocket.)
Making a moonbase shelter.
Survival cooking
Spaced out games
Our feature film.
Sunday Children’s games
Clearing up
All meals will be provided by our team of intrepid cooks who have volunteered to man the kitchen. Vegetarian meals can be provided if requested. We always try to use products that are nut free.
Please eat before coming out on the Friday night. However from that point on we’ll keep you awake with plenty of hot drinks, regular meals and the odd biscuit. If you wish to bring alcohol feel free – unfortunately we won’t be providing this.
If you or your children would like to go on this camp then can you please e-mail Kenny Boom at kennyandsarahboom@ntlworld.com . If you do not have e-mail then you can call Akela on 01228 594622. In order to cater for the correct numbers we will need to have names and numbers by 10th September.
Yours sincerely,
Kenny Boom – Chairman
Lisa Taylor – Beaver Scout Leader
David Hodgkiss – Cub Scout Leader
Bruce Kirton – Scout Leader
