Winter Camp 2010
Dear Parents,
Winter Camp 2010
No sooner than we return then it's time to start planning our next camp. As tradition now dictates our winter camp will be at Ratlingate between Friday 26th February (7.30pm start) and Sunday 28th March (depart at 10.30am.)
The cost for this camp will be £20.
The Cubs will be sleeping inside in the dormitories whilst the Scouts camp outside. This year the Cubs theme will be Planes, Kites and Balloons. The Scouts will be combining traditional skills with the theme Survival.
The Winter Camp has become very popular and I can truly say that there's never a dull moment! Normal kit applies but we ask that all parents send their child with warm clothing that is suitable for the time of year. Wellies are essential at Ratlingate in the winter.
Can we also ask that each child brings a traybake or similar to share over the weekend along with at least two tea towels per person. So often we seem to run out of these essential items and children seem only to be able to find a hand-towel when requested.
Please can you complete the slip below if your child/ren are planning to attend and return this by February 12th 2010 along with a cheque for £20.
Yours sincerely,
David Hodgkiss (Akela) John Wylie (Skip)
---------------------------------------------------------------
I give permission for my child/ren ______________________________________ to attend the Winter Camp between 26th February – 28th February.
I enclose a cheque/cash for £20.00

Cubs and Scouts Annual Census Return
Important Information
Please note that if your child has not been to either Cubs or Scouts during January and has not contacted their section leader with a reason e.g. illness, then they will not be included on our census return and therefore no longer part of the group from Friday 22nd January.
I apologise if this appears heavy handed but we cannot afford to pay for children who are no longer attending. It also allows the group to reduce the waiting lists by bringing in children who have not been able to start.

Ten Pin Bowling 2
The Cubs will be finished by 7.45pm.
The £5.00 includes the bowling and a meal.
Neckers must be clean, ironed and worn all of the time as it helps us identify our Cubs amongst the many.
Please let me know if you will not be attending, otherwise I'll see you on Wednesday.

Ten Pin Bowling 1
To all Cubs and their Parents,
My apologies for the confusion last night. Next week (20th January) is the District ten Pin Bowling Competition and we will be meeting at AMF Bowling in Carlisle and not at the Scout Hut. I will post details of the time for drop off and collection on the blog later today.
Many thanks

Scouts as normal tonight
Scouts will run as normal tonight (7th January) starting at 7.30pm. Be careful when using the car park and paths as these may not have been salted. Don't forget to bring your gloves!

No Cubs Tonight
Unfortunately there will be no Cubs on Wednesday 6th January. This is due to a number of factors, not least of which, is the fact that we do not have sufficient leaders. Could all Year 5 and 6 children please email or phone Akela if they are skiing on Sunday. Further details about this can be found on the blog and a letter is downloadable from the website.

No Beavers on January 7th and 14th
Happy New Year to you all.
Due to unexpected events I will not be able to hold the Beaver Colony meeting this week or next,
I expect to be able to resume meetings as normal on Thursday 21st but will let you know if this changes.
My apologies for this but as the weather is currently pretty dreadful, and likely to be for some while, this will at least be a journey less each week.
Please pass this message on to other Beavers and their parents.
Best wishes
Lisa
