Back to Basics Camp, 31st August - 2nd September 2012

Back to Basics Camp, 31st August - 2nd September 2012
Dear Parents,
In order to celebrate the end of the summer holidays and give you some time off after six weeks of entertaining your children, we will be running a camp at Ratlingate on the above dates. In this camp, the Cubs will experience some grassroots Scouting by building their own shelters, pioneering some rafts for the new Ratlingate Lake and lighting some fires. If the weather allows it, we will also do some water activities so bring swimming gear and a water gun.
The cost of the camp will be in two parts:
-    a cheque for £15 made payable to 13th Carlisle Scout Group by the AGM on the 13th July at the very latest, along with the attached medical form and slip
-    money with your child at the camp in order to buy something from the chip shop for Saturday tea (we would recommend £4-£5)
In contrast to previous camps, we will be allowing the Cubs to bring their own tents, if they have them, to camp. If your child would like to do this, then please complete the slip below.
As always, please remember traybake... it really does help us over the weekend!
If you have any issues, please do not hesitate to speak with myself (webmaster@13thcarlisle.org) or any of the Cub leaders.
Yours Sincerely,

Ben Hodgkiss - Assistant Cub Scout Leader

Cubs -Thursday 21st June

With regret I am having to cancel Cubs tonight as the field here at Rockcliffe is too wet with further rain forecast (we've already cancelled Sports Day too!)
Cubs will return to normal next Wednesday.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Coffee Morning

Yesterday’s event in the Community Centre raised £240.00 for the Scout Group funds for the benefit of all Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. Many thanks to those who gave up time to organise and help and to all who contributed items to sell etc. Cake tins and trays etc have been taken to the Scout Hut for collection.

Orienteering - updated

Thanks very much to Border Liners Orienteering Club who ran last nights orienteering at Rickerby Park.  The Cubs who took part had a great time, even if it was tiring!

If anyone wants to have another go at this then you can find more details at the Border Liners website www.bl-orienteering.org.uk/ or just give John Roelich a call on 01228 548975.

If you want to know how you did then check out the results page at
www.bl-orienteering.org.uk/archive/2012/20120523CarlisleParks/ and see how you did.

Contacts Update (Cubs)

Please can all parents email cubs@13thcarlisle.org with their up to date mobile number.  All you need to do is put your childs name in the header and the mobile number in the email itself.  I can then use these to update our records.  It will also enabe me to update email records too!

Thanks.

Jubilee Follow Up

Thank you to everyone who made the Jubilee weekend such a great success.  The Cubs who behaved so well, the Leaders who gave up their time and the parents who helped us fundraise for a unique opportunity.

I'm working on the costs now but all parents will be glad to know that they'll be getting a significant refund.  The total costs per person were below £90 (unless I've missed something!) More details at Cubs next week.

Ben is now working on the event video which will be shared at the AGM on July 13th, if not before on YouTube.

Finally we've ordered a special badge to mark the occasion and these will be given out when they arrive to all the Cubs and Adults who went.
