A few reminders

Don't forget that it is Church Parade on Sunday. Please be at St. Michael's Stanwix for 9.20am. The service starts at 9.30am and finishes by 10.30am. Why not join the congregation for a coffee afterwards and make the most of the morning?

Full uniform please. School trousers, ironed and washed 'necker, polished shoes and a uniform that all badges have been sewn on to. Oh and a washed face too!

Monday night sees the second of our training events for the Swimming Gala on Sturday 1oth October. If you didn't make it this week then it's not too late. Be at Trinity Pool for 7.20pm for a 7.30pm start.

On Wednesday 7th October there is no Cubs as the we have been invited to the Scouts and Explorers Kandersteg Evening. This starts at 7.30pm on Thursday. Bring your Parents along and try some Swiss Food, wine (over 18s only) and games which the Scouts and Explorers tried in the Summer.

Cubs Update

Firstly my apologies for not making Wednesday evening but Ofsted choose Thursday and Friday last week last week to pop in for a coffee and chat! Thanks must go to Lisa Taylor who covered for me on the night.

I realise some of you may have been trying to contact me. If you haven't caught me then please try again.

Just to remind you all there is no Cubs this Wednesday as instead we meet at Ratlingate on Thursday where we will be putting up the tents for the weekends District Cub Camp. Unfortunately I will not be available on Thursday as I have to attend a meeting which was postponed due to Ofsted. So on Thursday John Wylie, the Scout Leader, will lead Cubs along with Mike Neile, Jonathan McKeown, Ben, Vicki and Andrew Brindley. If parents can stay to help then it will be much appreciated for many hands make light work - especially when putting up the Mess Tent.

On Friday please arrive between 6.30 and 7.15pm. Don't come before. There will be a lot of traffic on the Ratlingate lane so be patient. I will post the finish time on the blog and ensure that a note is given to all parents on Thursday night.

Are you coming - please let me know if you want to the come to the camp but didn't say on Wednesday by sending me a text.

The following Monday (28th September) we are inviting all Cubs and Scouts who would like to take part in the Swimming Gala on October 10th to come along to Trinity Pools (7.30 - 8.30pm) for a practise. Last year we entered three teams in the Gala and had a great time- winning it as well. I really want to defend the title so find your towel, bikini and goggles and come along.

That's it for now. More news later in the week.

District Cub Camp 2009

7th September 2009

Dear Parents,
District Cub Camp 25th – 27th September 2009

No sooner are we back at Cubs then the next camp is already upon us. This year's District Cub Camp will be held at Ratlingate between 25th – 27th September. This is an opportunity for the Cubs to meet and work alongside Cub Scouts from all across the Reivers District.

This year the theme for the camp is Back to Basics.

The cost for the weekend will be £25.00

I need to know numbers as soon as possible because I need to tell the organisers numbers by Friday 18th September. If your child will be attending then please can you send a cheque to Cubs on Wednesday 16th September made payable to 13th Carlisle Scout Group along with the medical and permission form. A kit list and medical form are attached.

Yours sincerely,

David Hodgkiss - Akela
